Death of toddler 

4. A three-year-old boy has died after being struck by a car in Dublin in an incident that occurred yesterday morning in a shopping centre car park.

5. Oil prices surged back above $100 a barrel this morning after Iran launched fresh attacks on energy facilities and commercial vessels across the Gulf.

Harris open to more defence spending

6. Tánaiste Simon Harris said he’s “open to spending more” on defence, after a rousing speech by a French minister at Ireland’s Paris embassy on the need for the EU to strengthen its defence.

Irish Olympian dies

7. Irish Olympian Ronnie Delany has died at the age of 91. Delany won a gold medal for the 1500m race in the Melbourne Summer Olympics in 1956 when he was 21. 

Tax relief for pharmacists

8. Individuals will be able to claim tax relief on health expenses for healthcare provided by pharmacists under the Common Conditions Service, the Tánaiste and Health Minister announced today.
